Epic Poem
beach-worthy
The Aeneid by Virgil, translated by Robert Fagles
What better book to read on a beach than an epic sea voyage! The Aeneid is the journey of Aeneas who escapes after the destruction of Troy and ultimately ends up in Italy to become the founder of Rome. Fagles’ version is a very accessible translation—I also recommend checking out his translations of Homer’s The Iliad and The Odyssey.
